Absolutely Sinful Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies turned out much less chocolatey than I expected, but people seemed to really like it.. I couldn't tell if they were just being polite. Personally I much preferred the Chocolate Brownie Cookies, but they are a lot sweeter.

17. Azerbaijan. Capital: Baku. Language: Azerbaijani. Religion: 93.4-96% Muslim (85% Shia, 15% Sunni). Tidbit: Two thirds of Azerbaijan is rich in oil and natural gas. map_of_azerbaijan.jpg
27. I re-learned how to use the sewing machine earlier this summer and practiced by sewing Capstones' jersey patches and fixing up the banner. It'll take awhile longer before I can sew in a straight line though.

28. While eating at Popeyes's downtown, my friend and I were approached by a homeless deaf man who first wanted change, but then pointed to his stomach and at our food. So I gave him our mashed potatoes, and he was really polite about it. He went away to eat it and then came back to give a wave of thanks. This wasn't what I had in mind when I wrote this item though, but its a good start.

69. I bought a new sketchbook and canvasses yesterday, and I want to have a concept done before the term's out.

16. 1 - Ford Focus, which my friend Laura drives and in which she picks me up for school.

17. 1 - Liberia. Capital: Monrovia. Official Language: English. Currency: Liberian dollar. The name Liberia denotes "liberty" or "Land of the Free" as the country was colonized by freed African American slaves in 1822, who founded the country in 1847 with the support of Government of the United States creating a new ethnic group called the Americo-Liberians. Since 1989, Liberia has been in a state of flux witnessing two civil wars, the First Liberian Civil War (1989–1996), and the Second Liberian Civil War (1999–2003), displacing hundreds of thousands of people and devastating the country's economy.

62. Le Louvre à Québec was a little disappointing, but their other exhibit, Les Intrus was pretty good. There were lots of different rooms with different themes and artists displayed, and lots of different styles. The way the Musée National de Beaux-Arts is set up is pretty neat because the building itself used to be a prison, so there are several floors each with a couple of rooms. I also got to see the permanent collection of the Musée de Beaux-Arts in Montreal, which had a cool decorative arts exhibit on display and some local talent. They also owned some works of the Group of Seven in their permanent collection, which was really neat to see.

80. The girl I traveled with to Quebec City made off with the deposit I paid at the hostel for both of us. The lesson: trust your gut instinct.

49. (2/3) la tarte au sucre et la bière aux bluets. I looove tarte au sucre. I don't even want to know what's in it because I'm certain the filling is just sugar, maple syrup, and other stuff that's devoid of any nutritional value. The blueberry beer was not that good; as far as flavoured beer goes, I think I'll stick with Strongbow.

93. Since I couldn't get much sleep on the bus ride to Montreal, I was awake around the time of the first light of the day. It was quite a sight, and a novel feeling to be awake when it's so calm out and the day is just starting, but I was also super cranky that everybody else in the world must have been more rested than I was. Hence I really don't have much intention of ever actually being up all night and watching the sun slowly creep over the horizon, so I think that'll do it for me.

3. Creekside has started an unofficial one-year Bible Challenge. I printed out the reading schedule with no intention to actually finish reading the Bible in one year, but at least I can check off what passages I've read over time, so I can make sure I've covered all parts of the Bible, at some point. Right now I am working on reading through all the Psalms, which is very long, but not very daunting in the way of understanding theology or anything. I am also concurrently reading Matthew, a book I always start reading, and then stop by about Chapter 8, and then start from the beginning again. This time I hope to actually get to the end.

47. I made a batch of butter & jam thumbprint cookies. Aesthetically they don't really make the cut... some of the cookies fell apart in the oven, causing the jam to spill everywhere and melt in a pool around the dough. But they are still edible and quite tasty. This is probably the most creative cookie recipe I've ever tried; I usually just make sugar or chocolate chip cookies. So on the whole I am pleased with my efforts. Maybe I'll need to refine my craftsmanship before I try to make it for people though...

26. Chris mentioned a program called Cha-Ching in his blog, which is what I now use to track my spending.

33. Rachel and I talked on Skype on Christmas. I guess she's too young to appreciate a paper letter, so that's about good enough. Maybe I'll write her an email some time. Crazy generation of children raised with technology!
